For training a dog to catch the flyer in the air, begin by softly tossing the flyer to the pooch and praise and reward good catches.

If the dog wants to tug & pull or not give back the flyer, scold & take the flyer away. Soon the dog should catch on that this is a game to be played on your terms and you both will learn to enjoy it very much.

Always take care to be in charge of the game. If the dog gets off track and wants to turn the flyer into a chew toy, take it away. Resume the game later when you and your dog are ready.
